Zaragoza

Zaragoza is the capital of the autonomous province of Aragon and has a population of just over 700,000. The city has a long and rich history and has at times seen Roman and Muslim rulers. Many important historical events have taken place in and around the city. There are many things to see and do in Zaragoza and the city has a very lively food scene.

Zaragoza Cathedral

If you stay anywhere near the old town, you will find that everything is within easy walking distance. Especially if you are staying between Plaza Espana and Plaza of Our Lady of the Pillar you are set. The streets between and to the side of these points have loads to see and do.

The food scene in the old town includes many amazing little bars and restaurants. The El Tubo is the tapas street. Somehow, in among these buildings, many places with fantastic garden areas have emerged. Check out the tapas, check out the gardens, they are nearly all awesome.

Croquetas are popular in Zaragoza and many eateries have flavours you won’t find elsewhere in Spain. These include some excellent ‘gourmet’ flavours.

“My tip for Zaragoza, enjoy a half dozen croquetas with a cold beer (or whatever). Best break you will have all day.”

Zaragoza is a very flat city and has many pedestrian areas so it is very to walk around. If you need to use it, Zaragoza has an excellent bus and tram system.
