Riazor and Orzan Beaches

Riazor Beach is about 570 meters long. Orzán Beach is larger, at around 700 meters. A breakwater sits between them, but they feel almost connected. You can walk from one beach to the other in just a few minutes.

These beaches are near many well-known landmarks. They are only a short walk from the old town, the shopping streets, and many cafés and restaurants. The beaches are also not far from the Tower of Hercules, which is the most famous monument in the city. You can reach the tower by walking along the same coastal path that runs behind both beaches.

How to Get There by Public Transport

It is very easy to reach Riazor and Orzan using public transport. A Coruña has a good bus network, and many lines stop close to the beaches.

To get to Riazor Beach, take bus lines 3, 3A or 7. These buses stop right next to the seafront.

To reach Orzán Beach, take bus lines 3, 3A or 11. The stops are only a short walk from the sand.

If you are staying in the city centre, you may not need a bus at all. The beaches are very central, and you can walk there comfortably. The promenade is wide, flat, and easy to follow.

What You Will Find at the Beaches

Both beaches offer many useful services. There are toilets, showers, lifeguards, ramps for people with limited mobility, and access points from the promenade. There are also parking areas nearby. The wide walkway behind the beaches is great for cycling, running, or enjoying a relaxed stroll.

The beaches often have wind and moderate waves. Because of this, they are popular with surfers and people who enjoy water sports. You will also see families, couples, and visitors sunbathing or enjoying the view.

Since the beaches are in the city, there are many shops, cafés, and restaurants close by. This means you can easily spend the whole day without needing to travel far for food or drinks.

Events at Riazor and Orzán Beaches

One of the most important events of the year takes place on these two beaches. It is the Night of San Juan, celebrated every year on June 23rd.

On this night, hundreds of bonfires are lit along the sand. Thousands of people gather to welcome the start of summer. There is music, food, and a festive atmosphere. People grill sardines, enjoy parties, and celebrate until late at night. It is one of the biggest events in A Coruña and attracts many visitors.
