How to get to The Alpujarras
By air
The closest airport is Federico García Lorca Granada-Jaén Airport, located around one hour from the western Alpujarras. It offers domestic flights and a growing number of international connections.
Another excellent option is Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport, which serves many destinations across Europe. The drive from Málaga takes approximately two and a half hours.
Visitors heading to the eastern Alpujarras may also consider Almería Airport, around two hours away by road.
By train
There is no railway station within The Alpujarras itself. The nearest major station is Granada, which has high-speed AVE services connecting with Madrid, Córdoba, Seville and other Spanish cities. Check connections.

From Granada, follow the A-44 south before joining the A-348 towards Lanjarón and the heart of The Alpujarras. From Málaga, use the A-7 coastal motorway before connecting with the A-348. Roads are generally well maintained, although some mountain routes are narrow and winding.

By bus
Regular bus services operate from Granada to several villages including Lanjarón, Pampaneira, Bubión, Capileira and Trevélez. Although buses are affordable, services are less frequent than in larger cities, so checking timetables before travelling is recommended.
